Ok, I'm going to pause and squeak up (<-- not a typo) about Fox/NewsCorp. There was a documentary online that I caught about a year and change ago, talking about how journalistic integrity was blown out of the water when Murdoch took things over (at Fox); journalists talking about how their stories were canned, or how they were canned for not shifting the perspective of the facts. And these were stories about the public welfare, but they were exposes on business and thus not good.
I know every time I hear bullshit about THE BROWN PEOPLE ARE COMING and THIS IS NOT THE AMERICA I GREW UP WITH, in media, I end up thinking 'Of course it isn't Murdoch, Jim Crow is Officially Over'. Cause the American Rupert Murdoch grew up in, was one where pretty white ladies wore their sunday afternoon best to lynch blackpeople in the park while sharing out fried chicken - all without fear of reprisal. Whereas these days, there might be a couple months of jailtime, especially if you break out the chicken.
This man has been trying to recapture the bygone era of his father, which is back before the anti-trust laws, when immigrants were serfs and black people weren't people. He's the bloody foundation of the backlash that' changed the public, political, media tone from where it was stretching in the 90's, to tokenized bullshit and opinion edutainment Hard Copy as 9 o'clock fricking news of the world.
So the dead reporter? Not. Surprised.
The far reaching of it? Not. Surprised. If people wanted to keep their jobs originally they towed the Murdoch line. And in twenty something years he's had more than enough time to oust everyone and put in sycophants with his world view.
No black anchors? Memos from the top. How the news is reported? Memos from the top. What news is reported? Memos from the top. Etc...etc...
It's straight UP Hard Copy stuff, to delete a missing girl's voicemails to have more copy and pain to exploit. But will any of this have any affect in the US where it's so much easier to buy a politician? I doubt it.
Those Who Forget History Are.....
