I know you all are so desensitized to Afghan people being killed...

U.S. soldier held after firing on Afghans, killing at least 16, officials say

Esaqzai, who said he saw the 16 bodies, provided the following account. About midnight, 11 people, including three women; four children whose ages ranged from 6 to 9; and four men were executed inside the home of a village elder.

“They entered the room where the women and children were sleeping, and they were all shot in the head,” Esaqzai said, adding that he was doubtful of the U.S. account suggesting the killings were the work of a lone gunman. “They were all shot in the head.”

Isn't it interesting that the very first thing commentators rushed to do yesterday as this news broke was to say that this must be an individual who'd gone crazy, lost his mind, fell to the throes of mental illness?

It couldn't possibly be that an American soldier could just be an evil m'fer who decided to go execute some Afghanis, choosing mostly women and children, oh no, it had to be a psycho thing.

Of late I've been reading accounts and histories -- trying to pick ones that were written by Filipinos -- of the Philippine-American war.

And reading this-- it hasn't changed. Not at all. Not the evil and not the brutality of it. People like to pretend the bloody past is over, but it's clearly not.

Sometimes I feel so much hate for the US. This is so evil. This cannot be borne.
